Desert Island Discs

Debs and I killed an hour or so one rainy afternoon in Fiji by doing our Desert Island Discs selections - pretending to be castaways on a desert island, and choosing eight pieces of music, one book (excluding the Bible or other religious work and the complete works of Shakespeare, which are deemed to be already present on the island), and one luxury item which must be inanimate and of no survival value to take with us.

Here are our choices:

Debs
1. Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone
2. Libertines - Time for Heroes
3. The Smiths - The Light
4. The Cure - Just Like Heaven
5. Rod Stewart - Tonight's the Night
6. Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
7. David Bowie - Space Oddity
8. Stone Roses - I am the Resurrection
Book: George Orwell - Nineteen Eighty Four
Luxury item: A radio

Ben
1. Slint - Good Morning Captain
2. Public Enemy - Bring the Noise
3. Bonnie "Prince" Billy - One with the Birds
4. Pavement - Trigger Cut
5. Duke Ellington and his Famous Orchestra - Rockin' in Rhythm
6. Aphex Twin - Girl/Boy song
7. Kodaly - Missa Brevis
8. Paris Sisters - I love how you love me
Book: Leo Tolstoy - War and Peace
Luxury item: A guitar

Fun game! Feel free to chip in with your selections in the comments.

Ben

Sorry Ben I have to go with Debs.
Book 1984(G. Orwell) keeps the creativity alive ona desert island and say for example that your stuck for decades the book gives reference to new ideas for Next Generations.
As for the music list..how are you going to listen to any of it?
The radio would be a good option ot have and as for batteries well a few coconuts with acid adn lead could do the job or maybe Orwells mention osmething we have not understood thus far.
See you guys are enjoying the tour. Cheers,
Bjorn.

Heh, yes, we figured it out - the smell right?! Bens were pretty bad for a while, but we washed them in anti-bacterial soap and they seem OK, for now...

uhmmmmm, nah that wasn't it really. Maybe it is an Asia thing. You'll see it..... It's more "style" related..... Like you have the "cool" travellers..... and the bunch that always clutters around the places with the signs saying "try our lemon shales as recommended by lonely planet". The latter wearing those shoes..... hehehe

not to say that you guys are not TOTALLY cool of course.. ;-)

and I meant "shakes", not "shales"....
